Hammerheart Records newsletter #13: Obtained Enslavement, Konkhra, Monolithe, Castle and more!
As we are going towards the end of 2024 we will share our label news with all of you worldwide. Feel free to spread it through all available contacts and sources available.
September
Summer is over… ready? Go!
First up is Castle from the U.S./Canada, with a brand-new killer album entitled “Evil Remains” coming on CD and LP, immediately followed by a full European tour in September. It will be the band’s 6th full-length studio album after a hiatus of 6 years. It seems they saved up all their great songs during these long years and put them into one killer album. Castle performs Heavy / Doom / Sludge Metal with lyrics on occultism (bands you might use a reference could be Lucifer, High on Fire, Blood Ceremony). Flawless performance, killer songs, horror vibes and top notch production awaits.
God Macabre! Yes! We do a repress of “The Winterlong” on vinyl. Of course we have the expanded version with the Macabre End 7” and the 1990 unreleased track. So 11 songs of Swedish Death Metal. Considered to be among the most important Swedish Death Metal recordings ever done and respected and adored by thousands all over the World. It will be available in several variants.
One more cool re-issue for September and we are pleased to announce Tristania’s “Widow’s Weed” (with their Tristania “Tristania” debut-EP from 1997 added) as deluxe 2-CD and 2-LP. The debut-EP from 1997 was never before released on vinyl and their 1998 album “Widow’s Weed” is seen as the ultimate standard for Gothic Metal. And yes, it was released once before on vinyl, but is incredibly expensive, so that problem is also solved!
October
We’ve got some Death Metal for you as well. Australian legends Abramelin will return with 4th full-length studio album “Sins of the Father” and it is an absolute thrilling album. Modern, but Old School enough at the same time, technical challenging, but still with a focus on great, memorable songs. And then the artwork…just wait and see. We will do a limited edition LP (with that artwork…), LP and CD. The roots of Abramelin reach back to 1988 (as Acheron) and they will be a contender for Death Metal album of the year for sure.
Sometimes things do not go 100% as planned. German magazine Deaf Forever published a review on the German band Aiwaz in its July/August issue, without being informed that we signed Aiwaz… But the review is 10/10 points, so who cares? “Darrrkh It Is” is the name of this incredible album and it is a top notch mix of Solitude Aeturnus, Marillion, Queensrÿche, Ghost, While Heaven Wept and My Dying Bride (really? Yes really!). More epic than epic, with a very strong production and simply beautiful. Quote from the review (done by Michael Kohsiek): “One thing is clear, in this year no album will be matching this one when it comes to emotions”.
Due to popular demand we will finally repress Phlebotomized’s “Immense Intense Suspense” on vinyl. It has been 9 years since we did a first edition and this classic Dutch Death Metal album is in high regard and demand. Several variants will be available. And it will be a last and final repress.
November
Our final release for 2024 will be the new album by Danish legends Konkhra. Their 8th full length album since their inception in 1990 is proudly titled “Sad Plight of Lucifer” and the best word to summarize the album in one word would be “massive”. Mixed by Tue Madsen at the famous Antfarm Studio (a.o. Heaven Shall Burn, The Haunted, Meshuggah) the album is just…massive. We did expect a lot from Konkhra, but not a bomb like this. November 28th this release will make sure our year 2024 will go out with a massive bang!
Earlier this month we will release “Black Hole District”, the new album by Parisian progressive Doom/Death masters Monolithe. And this album actually goes way beyond Doom/Death, it is a Tech-Noir inspired story that makes you shiver and is beautifully crafted in a soundscape-ish progressive album with high production values. It is Monolithe’s 10th studio album and even if they have done some classics already this album sees them peak. The so-called funeral doom throne (once again, this album goes way beyond this description) is theirs.
40 years old in 2024 is “Psalm 9” by Chicago legends Trouble. We could not lets this birthday pass without a present: a limited edition of 500 copies on heavy quality picture-LP, in a nice sleeve, with insert and poster. These will go quickly and become collectable.
Re-issue time, the last two re-issues for 2024. Obtained Enslavement’s legendary “Soulblight” album as digipack CD and on vinyl, “The Shepherd and the Hounds of Hell” only on vinyl (first-timer that is!). Obtained Enslavement was right there when Norwegian Black Metal exploded Worldwide on the scene in the mid 90’s and their albums are essentials ones if you like this genre.
